Cycling the Pamir Highway: Crossing the Roof of the World
The Pamir highway is one of the most beautiful cycling routes in the world: a deserted land with a view of snow-capped volcanoes, yurts, herds of sheep, and mountain lakes. This route is divided into two parts. The first stage is crossing the deep Panj River Valley. The second stage is the alpine: passing through one of the highest passes in the world that is open for bikes – Ak-Baital (elevation 4 655 m).
On the way we will visit Tajik villages, full of apple orchards and nice inhabitants, and from afar you will see Afghan mountain oases. We will go all the way to the “Roof of the World”, that is the Pamir Plateau, and we will reach the iconic mountain lake of Karakul! Passing by the famous peak of Lenin Peak, we will get to Kyrgyzstan. Our journey will come to an end in Osh, once an important center of the Silk Road (a route which we follow with our bikes throughout almost the entire tour).
Unforgettable landscapes, amazing local cuisine and talks with Tajiks, Afghans and Pamir Kyrgyz people will stay in your memory for a lifetime. Join us now!
